Thanks for all the great comments...

I've really enjoyed and appreciated everyone's comments on the last few posts and wanted to tell you guys how cool it has been to read them all. I'm always glad to see that people think my kids are funny and wicked smart and I'm happy to share with you the funny and poignant stuff my parents have shared with me over the years. So thanks to everyone for taking the time to stop by. I should be making my rounds but I have actually been sick lately. My ongoing dental traumas have caused me horrible reoccurring pain that spreads from my jaw to my ear and has been like this for over a month now. You know it's bad when I can't even joke about it. I keep wracking my brain to try and figure out what terrible thing I must have done to receive all this painful attention from the dental demons. I think the only other person who could relate to my agony is Spyscribbler, who has her own dental horror stories she could share.

To top it all off, I got really sick yesterday after a bad case of food poisoning and over self-medicating (the self medicating has been trying to find a painkiller that actually relieves pain and which I'm not allergic to) and I was one horribly sick pig. It's the second time I've poisoned myself in a month. Actually, if I hadn't taken the medicine myself I might be thinking that there is something to my Mom's idea of never letting your husband get a huge life insurance policy on you...

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone as usual for stopping by and forgive me as I wallow in my own misery and not make my usual rounds. I do have a great author interview post scheduled for later this week in which Oldest and her best friend both read a book they loved and got to interview the author, so please stay tuned for Oldest's post later this week.

Until then, this little poisoned piggy is signing out for a wee bit.

Aw, poor poisoned piggy. I'm sure the sick isn't helping the jaw pain either. Rest up and tet well soon.

Um, that would be 'get'.

I'm sorry, Ello... I hope you feel better soon.

By the way, I never commented on your last post... because it made me all weepy... it was beautifully done, though.

Oh, Ello, I'm so sorry! That's awful! Salt water helped me with some awful pain. It sounds too simple to be true, but it got rid of shooting pains that had me crying out in public and clutching my cheek, LOL. I swished every hour. Worked better than taking 4 Advil, which did nothing.

I hope, hope, hope, hope, hope you get relief soon. *hugs*

It's a shame the Tooth Fairy never got to have a butt-kicking ally. I envisage a kung fu kind of cheerleader-cum-wrestler who intervenes early and numbs the nerves of pain with her padded bootees.

I have a wisdom tooth that's been poking its way from my maxilla for the past two years, and, having lost three good months in my early twenties to its companion on the other side, I'm not looking forward to the day it decides to make with the agony. Aside from a a ferocious tomahawk blow to the side of the neck, malign teeth are about the worst things that can happen to us once we get past the ribcage.

But none of this is making you feel any better, is it?

Flu? Did I tell you I had flu...?

Ello I'm sending you lots of painkilling über hugs to help you feel better (they're the magic no-touchy ones that just soothe). When I had tonsillitis a couple of years ago my throat jaw and ears were absolute agony. They recommended slooshing with dissolvable aspirin. It's gritty and horrible but I think it worked well. If you try it keep a glass of water handy to rinse because it's horrible stuff.

Feel better soon xxx

I know how you feel. My neck has been in so much pain I can't chew. I had to go to the hospital a few days ago after a painkiller my doctor gave me made me so ill I got dehydrated. I cancelled my neck surgery and got an epidural yesterday which has helped. One thing that may help is to ask your doctor to give you an anti nausea medication to take with your painkiller. My doctor gave me a new drug called Lyrica for nerve pain which is not a narcotic and has helped a lot. I hope you feel better soon!

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. I hope things get back to normal soon. Medicine can be both a boon and a curse. Sounds like you've gotten some of the curse side of it.

Oh, man! I can relate since I had my wisdom teeth removed two years ago. There's nothing I've felt as excruciating as that pain (and I've had two kids). I totally get taking whatever you think will take the pain away. Hang in there!

On the bright side, I did drop a few pounds because of it ;p.

Use CAUTION with that self-medicating, Ello. Instead try chicken soup and lots of rest and we'll look forward to Oldest as your returning guest blogger.

Be careful with the self-medicating...it can get you in beaucoup trouble! And DEFINITELY don't let da man medicate you!!!

Seriously, hope you're feeling well real soon. And you get a dental demon exorcism.
